How great would it be to have professional development that targeted and improved your personal work AND enhanced the way school teams functioned at the same time? Guess what! This is what the Better You, Better Team Sharecast can offer! When you say "yes" to joining, you're saying "yes" to identifying your working genius and changing the way your school teams function forever!
REGISTRATION CLOSES FEBRUARY 28TH!
What is the greatest factor influencing student growth? That's right, collective efficacy. According to John Hattie's research (2015), collective efficacy is what can make the greatest impact on student learning and achievement. I'd venture to also claim that collective efficacy is the differentiating factor in organizational health- the thing that most significantly affects retention rates and capacity building. Unfortunately, what is often the case in schools (and other organizations) is FALSE EFFICACY. But why?? Here's what I believe:
This is what else I believe: At the center of false efficacy is faux collaboration. At the core of faux collaboration is a lack of self and social awareness. I want to invite you to join this Sharecast to learn about how the Working Genius can be the pivotal turning point that makes way for true collaboration and collective efficacy.
The content in this Sharecast will be based on the work of Patrick Lencioni and the Table Group, the creators of the Working Genius model and assessment; the work of General Stanley McChrystal, author of Team of Teams; the work of Peter DeWitt, author of Collaborative Leadership; and many more experts in the field of self-awareness, collaboration, and leadership.
- Schools struggle to build common language around collective efficacy (among many other terms, visions, and goals).
- Schools tend to function as many separate closed vessels in which teams are working against, instead of with, one another toward something vague or nothing at all. Instead, each teacher is focused on his or her own group of students in the school year at hand.
- Teams (grade level teams, instructional leadership teams, content teams, etc) struggle because they are never provided intentional time and guidance to identify the ways in which each individual best contributes or how individuals function together.
- It is assumed that teachers will collaborate of their own volition or accord, but true collaboration must be explicitly taught, modeled, and celebrated.
- Time is ill-spent on things of inconsequential value in an effort to conquer issues of the here and now versus the extended future of a child's life journey.
